How does education affect your life?
Education affects my life in many ways. Education or the lack there
of affects every situation and every person you come into contact with.
In many instances you get a chance to learn something or be educated
about something you previously did not have as much knowledge on. This
can occur every single day. And other times you have the chance to
educate or inform someone about something they may not know a lot about.
Education also affects my life because it is my life. School takes up
the majority of my time every single week. And it will continue to
affect my life every day because that is the profession I have chosen to
go into. What happens in the formal sense of education (going to
school) and the experiences we have help to shape and mold us. I know it
certainly has me.
Why do you choose to become a teacher?
I chose to become a teacher because honestly I could not imagine
doing anything else with my life. I was very fortunate growing up to
have many amazing teachers every single year. Each one of them was
different but taught me so much. The connections and the genuine care
each of them had for me as not only a student but a person were life
changing. Many of whom I am still in contact with to this day.
I hope to effect that kind of change in my students one day. To give
them positive educational experiences. To let them know they are cared
about and to teach them something. I want to positively affect their
lives as both students and human beings. I want to see their eyes light
up when they "get it" I want to be a part of it. I want everyone to have
what I had.

Digital Storytelling Resources
Here is a little more about what digital storytelling is and how you can incorporate it into your classroom!

What is "Digital Storytelling"? This website offers up an explanation of what exactly it is and gives some background on it. Links on the page offer resources, educational uses and different elements of what it is.

This site gives some different ideas for digital storytelling across the different subjects. It also gives general ideas as well. Great to look at to get some ideas or see what different things you can do with digital storytelling.

This resource is a how to use digital storytelling in your classroom piece. It talks of how to work with students on this and to really let them lead. It is great for those who are nervous of incorporating it into their classroom.

WebQuest Resources
WebQuests are a great tool to add to your classroom! Here is a list of 5 to help get some more knowledge about them!

This is a video about WebQuest pitfalls. Bernie Dodge who created the WebQuest model talks about some different things to watch out for and not do on WebQuests and gives feedback on things you may want to focus on when creating them. Some topics don't work well with the WebQuest model. This is a great resource directly from the man himself.

In another video from Bernie Dodge he discusses what a WebQuest is. I feel like this is very helpful in reminding what the intent of the WebQuest should be. In the video it describes the steps that are involved in each WebQuest and even provides an example of one.

This website provides a PowerPoint of the step by step process to making a WebQuest. This is a very helpful PowerPoint for first time users and really gets into each part of the WebQuest and the details it should include.

This website provides information on short and long term WebQuests. It includes thinking skills that the WebQuest activities may include as well as even further in depth look at the whole designing a WebQuest and what it should entail.
